Depth Counseling seeks pre-license and licensed clinicians to provide long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy
Depth Counseling Services, P.C. is seeking counselors and social workers to provide long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflict, and underlying personality features. We are a psychodynamic group practice — meaning we look beyond our clients’ presenting symptoms to consider the conscious and unconscious aspects of each person’s subjective experience. Whether you are a new or experienced clinician, with just a few classes or perhaps a strong background in psychodynamic work, we would love to hear from you!
Our Chicago, IL group is accepting applications by fully licensed therapists but hiring is paused for pre-licensed* applicants.
*We are currently paused on hiring for pre-licensed therapists in our Chicago, Austin, and Houston offices. If you are a fully licensed clinician, or if you are enrolled in a postgraduate psychoanalytic training program (2+ years), please email our Clinic Director Greg Rizzolo PhD at email@example.com.
Our staff psychotherapists are fully licensed and bring significant post-graduate psychoanalytic training. With Depth, you will enjoy a range of support services not available in solo practice, including the opportunity to supervise students and new clinicians. (Target applicant: Fully licensed clinician with significant post-graduate psychoanalytic training.)
Depth Counseling seeks pre-license and licensed clinicians to work in our new psychoanalytic clinic for psychosis and extreme states
We are also seeking applicants to staff and to help launch a new clinical project, alongside several current staff clinicians. Existing as a separate clinical project within Depth, a new center will be geared toward subjects who experience psychosis, who hear voices, or who undergo extreme states. Consequently, in addition to one-on-one psychoanalytic services, this clinic will begin to build a milieu to support the individual attendee in work with and on their unconscious and it will require the close collaboration of clinicians in a treatment team. We aim to hire clinicians who will do clinical work in individual and group settings, as well as an arts coordinator (license-eligible, with training as an art therapist) who will work one-on-one with clinic attendees to support them in the development of their artistic projects and to organize arts-based programming.
Successful applicants to this clinic will have past experience with psychotic structure in clinical settings, and they will have undertaken study, experience, and training in relation to psychoanalysis. They should be licensed or pre-licensed mental health professionals and/or members (pre-candidates, candidates, or graduates) from a psychoanalytic school. We are likely to offer one internship in coordination with the project as well.
Each member of the treatment team will be required to develop a personalized plan to pursue training, study, and formation along the lines of psychoanalysis and psychotic structure, according to their desire. Depth Counseling will facilitate a weekly case conference to help support this goal.
How to apply
To apply for the above positions, please complete the short application form below. We will follow up with you. Please continue reading this page for information on additional openings and fellowships.
Want to complement your employment with ongoing education? We offer well-compensated, full-time fellowship opportunities for pre-license and licensed early career professionals who want to learn the art and science of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. When you apply to join our staff, we will automatically consider you for one of the below fellowship opportunities.
Our introductory fellowship provides an entry point for anyone with a genuine curiosity about psychodynamic / psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Fellows will deepen their knowledge of core psychoanalytic concepts, working alongside peers at a similar stage in their learning. (Target applicant: Pre-license or licensed clinician who is curious about psychoanalytic approaches, but has little formal training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.)
Our advanced fellowship immerses trainees in the clinical dilemmas that often emerge in the early years of a long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Fellows will explore common conundrums and theoretical tension points with a group of like-minded peers, many of whom bring advanced post-graduate training, and all of whom share a passion for depth in the psychotherapeutic encounter. (Target applicant: Pre-license or licensed clinician with a moderate to advanced immersion in psychoanalytic coursework or post-graduate training.)
Why Join Our group?
We are the most diverse psychoanalytic group practice in Chicago, with the hope of expanding to other cities where both new and experienced clinicians seek the kind of support we provide. Our clinicians come from a range of different backgrounds, both personally and professionally, and represent a variety of different theoretical orientations within psychoanalysis. At Depth Counseling, you will find a place where you can develop your unique clinical approach, while refining it through dialogue with other clinicians who are deeply immersed in ongoing personal and professional learning.
